HISTORY

The Library at Cedar Creek Lake

The Library at Cedar Creek Lake has a history that reads like a fairy tale.
From its humble beginnings in the mid 1970s as a bookmobile, it then moved from storefront to storefront,
until finally in 1999 unpacking in its current facility.

Since its move to its current home,
The Library at Cedar Creek Lake has grown to become the primary regional resource for many
educational, cultural, and intellectual activities. It has become the most visited
non commercial entity in the area.
In consideration of the explosive increase in the
lake area's population, along with its ever changing demographic profile,
the Library needs our help to grow andcontinue to serve the Cedar Creek Lake community.

Denim & Diamonds - "Necessity Is the Mother of Invention"?

In 2008, Denim & Diamonds was born as a last minute attempt to raise funds for the Library.
Its goal was to earn enough income not to make improvements; but to simply keep the doors open.
Denim & Diamonds II, in 2009, set out with a loftier goal. With the support of sponsors, underwriters,
individuals and a small army of volunteers, the gala raised $50,000 in income. Building on its success,
the 2010 event, D&D III, generated $65,000 in net income for the Library.

Each year, The Library at Cedar Creek Lake
seeks operating funds from a variety of sources in order to meet its often overwhelming expense requirements.
Denim & Diamonds has become the Library's primary fund raising event.
